On this trip, you are guaranteed to see a wide range of wildlife. The lions, wildebeests, leopards, cheetahs and elephants of the Mara, the rhinos and birds of Lake Nakuru, the cycling or trekking alongside the docile wildlife of Hell’s Gate Park Naivasha and cool off with a boat safari on Lake Naivasha.
Itinerary
Day 1Nairobi ~ Naivasha:
You’ll be picked up from the airport or hotel and drive to the nearby Lake Naivasha with a brief stopover at the Great Rift Valley escarpment for a chance to take pictures and learn about the escarpment. Later, check in and have lunch at Kiboko Luxury Camp. Later on, proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park, named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries. The Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub-clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. The park is also home to African buffalo, zebras, elands, hartebeests, Thomson’s gazelles and baboons. The park is also home to prolific birdlife. Later evening, do a boat ride safari on Lake Naivasha. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Lake Kiboko Luxury Camp.
Day 2: Lake Naivasha ~ Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, we will depart to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park, the “home of birds” in Africa. The park is famous for birds like the lesser and greater flamingos, African fish eagle, tawny eagle, greenwood hoopoe’s, cliff chat, great white and pink-backed pelicans. The park is also a sanctuary to the black rhino, white rhino, and the Rothschild giraffe. You will arrive in time for lunch and check in at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge located inside the park. After lunch and a short rest at the lodge, proceed for an afternoon game drive in this park. Afterward, return to Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru ~ Masai Mara National Park
After breakfast, we will depart to Masai Mara National Reserve, with a classic and breathtaking landscape that has green grassy plains and rolling hills. The Mara National Reserve is a wildlife paradise, with lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, rhinos, leopards and hippos as the main feature. Wildebeests traverse its plains during the famous annual migration. You will arrive with a game drive enroute to your lodge located inside the park. We’ll check in time for lunch at Sarova Mara Game Camp Masai Mara. Then you’ll have an afternoon game drive. Dinner and your night stay will be at the lodge.
Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve Extensive Drive
You will rise up very early this morning and take off for a sunrise game drive and then return to your lodge for a full breakfast. After breakfast, you will spend the entire day in the park with a packed lunch to enjoy along the way. The tour will take you in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their prey like the zebra and wildebeest, as well as the giraffe. You will visit the Mara River where you will spot hippos and dangerous crocodiles. Later in the evening, you will return for dinner and your overnight stay at the lodge.
NOTE: An optional hot air balloon ride, at an extra cost, is available on this day.
Day 5: Masai Mara ~ Nairobi
You will have an early morning breakfast at your lodge. Then you’ll check out, then drive to Nairobi. Lunch will be served en route. Drop off will be at your hotel or you’ll be transferred to the airport.
